What MG has been playing this week

09.07.2010

If you read these pages you will know that a lot of news and reviews go up but I thought it was time to see what the guys on the MG forums have been playing over the last week.

For myself it has been a testing week.  Crackdown 2 was delivered for review last Friday and being the workhorse that I am have had to give it many hours to get the review written up.   The only break from this was our weekly Forza 3 league which sadly is coming to the end of the season – sniff.  Watch out for the new one soon though.

Other people in the community have been a little more active so let’s see what they have been playing.

Captain Scamp wrote:-

“Well I have been on nights so gaming as been sort of out of the question. But, when I have managed to open my eyelids, I’ve been playing Blur; slowly making my way through the multiplayer aspect. It has a similar mechanic to Call of Duty, where when you reach level 50 you can choose to start again, a lá prestige.

Before I went all Vampire like, I was enjoying some Bad Company 2, Orange Box and Oblivion on PC, Puzzle Kingdoms, AudioSurf, Halo CE and RISK.

Perhaps when I return to the land of the living, people would like to join my games for laughs and killings.”

GT Sall also remarked:-

“Mostly been playing Red Dead coop gang hideouts and the new coop mission DLC , and also seeing how fast i can clear fort mercer gang hideout as its my fav hideout .

Been playing ODST coop campaign on legandary with wacky which as had a few challenging momments and will be doing some Firefight when we have finished the campaign .

About due for some Terrorist Hunt mr boomer although i will deffo be out of practise on it , been going to invite you to some red dead but youve either logged early or just not been around much .

Would also like to get my hands on ..Tiger 10..Split Second and Battlefield 2 for the coop Onslought but moneys a bit tight atm .”

A lot of FPS seems to be played, nothing new there but some have come out of their normal gaming habits a little to embark on other adventures as Nicksaints has written:-

“Just played some adversarial stuff on Red Dead and have mixed thoughts. The possibilities are huge, great potential, but there are just so many issues with it, not least spawn killing of the highest order, that I think it is a friends only kinda multiplayer. The regular shootout stuff looks really good tho. Objective based games, forget it.

Having a really hard time trying to get the RS200 ready for the last race in the Forza league, so spent a little time on that again yesterday after dropping the kids off to school. Then had a nice little spell on Battlefield with Scott, Glodrocks, Saps(for a short while) and an American pal of Lee’s called Warren who’s a lot of fun. Played a bit of squad deathmatch, then tried one of the MG challenges on the Onslaught mode. Man, was it hard

A bit of Rainbow Six 2 split screen with my son was topped off with a long long chat in a party with my old Pal from across the pond Brian, while we both watched the Spain/Germany game. Match was crap, but the company great, then to top off a nice day, some MW2 Search and Destroy was enjoyed muchly with Scott, Ascenti0n, Brian, Deadly and his mate and Marc.
Yes, I game too much on a Wednesday!”

New to the forums, Sp3nc3r74, wanted to flex his gaming muscles by showing off his dedication for Red Dead Redemtion.

“About 99% through Red Dead Redemption single player (just have a few bounties and the US Marshall Outfit Hideouts to do) so moved onto Forza 3. Nearly done with Season 6, then it’s onto pimping my rides once i’ve found enough manufacturer vinyls I can colour change. Also dive into MW2 now and again to keep my reflexes sharp :P

One of our birthday boys this week, Macdory seems to have embarked on a mix of FPS and RPG as he wrote:-

“Age of Conan and Metro 2033 for me … keeps me out of trouble in any case …”

A couple of admins have not had a lot of time this week but just enough to get on a subtle mix of sport and shooters, mixed with a little Kiddie stuff.  Ch8rt wrote:-

“A little bit of Onslaught and a little bit of FIFA for the Pro Team stuff. Thats all I’ve had time for :(

with Nex0r pitching in with his love in for Lego stuff.

“I’ve been playing lego Harry Potter with nexbird in co-op, not happy that only the primary player gets the achievements tho :/
Other than that it’s been Forza 3 and BF2.”

Worthyhitman84 also posted about his passion for football.

“just fifa 10 constantly striving to get better at be a pro and ultimate team and also been playin need for speed shift.”

Cerbera 5 has gone driving mad as he wrote:-

“Blur has been taking up 90% of my game time, and with only two others on my FL who have it, its been online randoms all the way.
Forza3 hotlapping last 10%.”

Our last quote of the week is from one of our community moderators, Cleric Boomer, who is a little down on his gaming at present.  Go show him some love!

“just unfortunately been mooching around gaming wise.

Still got no motivation gaming wise.

Bit of Red Dead, both single and multi-player.

Brought out Metro 2033 again and got past where I was stuck.

Otherwise just Forza multiplayer.

Still trying to sort out some GRAW and R6V2 – but no real joy”

So, there you have it A small selection of what the MG community have been playing this week.  If you feel that any of these games are what you play and you want to join in and have some fun then please feel free to drop by and give us an introduction.  Remember, with MG, you are only one click away from your online home!
