Gaming can make a better world?

We have all read the negative press that comes with gaming and the outcry of naivety about the subject has reached dizzying heights.The Daily Mail and certain politicians are quick to slam the violence in videogames and how they affect the minds of the weak, putting the industry and our hobby into a negative light. But what if gamers, their psychology and mentality can be channelled to solve real world problems? It sounds a bit bizarre, right? Well in a keynote speech by Games Designer, Jane Mcgonigal, she explains how that maybe able to come about.
She, in fact, encourages you to want to game more to “save the planet” and although the beginning of the video shown below sounds really leftfield to the point where I thought it was a spoof I thought she came up with some very thought provoking information backed up with years of research to show that this may be possible.

Its a fantastic piece, she does well to get the crowd on side. I was entertained for 20 minutes. What more can I ask.
