From yesterday evening (7^th February), for one week only, Xbox Live customers can purchase a number of classic and recently released Square Enix titles and items at discounted prices.

Sale highlights include up to 50% off mission packs and avatars for the 2011 blockbuster release, Deus Ex: Human Revolution; and 50% off the Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light game. More information on the games and items included in the Square Enix sale can be found on the Xbox Marketplace.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 DLC out now

Square Enix is pleased to announce that the Final Fantasy XIII-2 ‘Opponent: Lightning & Amodar’ downloadable content is available to purchase from today for Xbox 360 via Xbox Live Marketplace priced at 240 Microsoft Points, and from 8^th February for PS3 via PlayStation Network priced at £1.59 / € 1.99.

This downloadable Coliseum Battle allows players to pit their wits against Lieutenant Amodar, a member of Cocoon’s specialist military division called the Guardian Corps; and Lightning, heroine of Final Fantasy XIII and previously a member of the same unit. Players are provided a rare opportunity to battle the duo, where defeating them also allows the player to add both characters to their party.

More well-known characters and monsters from past Final Fantasy titles will be making an appearance soon, so watch this space.

The bow weapon for Serah called “Azrael” created through collaboration between Square Enix and Microsoft, will also be available exclusively for the Xbox 360 from today, for 80 Microsoft Points.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 releases today

Suare Enix is pleased to announce that Final Fantasy XIII-2 is available to purchase today for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is the sequel to the multi-million selling Final Fantasy XIII. The new game features enhanced level design that encourages exploration and a battle system bolstered with multiple additions, including the ability to capture over 150 monsters to add to your party.

For the first time in Final Fantasy history, players can keep friends up-to-date with their gaming experience via a direct link to Facebook. Once players are introduced to the Historia Crux, they will have the chance to upload information about their progress; including current party setup, monsters collected, battle scores and more.

Hitman gets the novel treatment

Del Rey, an imprint of the Random House Publishing Group, announced today a second novel based on the Hitman video game series from Io Interactive.

Hitman: Damnation will be written by author Raymond Benson and will release in North America in Summer 2012. The book will also be available in many other countries around the world, please keep an eye on the Official Hitman website for further details.

Taking place between games Hitman: Blood Money and the upcoming Hitman: Absolution, Hitman: Damnation follows legendary assassin Agent 47 as he attempts to complete his toughest assignment yet. 47 is charged with assassinating high-level American political figures, but he notices that some aspects of the mission don’t add up as he is plunged into a web of lies, deceit, and murder.

This novel is based on a Mature-rated video game.

Scarygirl released on Xbox Live Marketplace

Square Enix Europe are pleased to let you know that Scarygirl is out today on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

In Scarygirl, the beautiful and bizarre world from Nathan Jurevicius’ graphic novel of the same name comes to life, with tentacle arms, kung-fu rabbits, giant octopuses and fearsome foes all part of the unforgettable adventure.

Scarygirl will be coming to the European PlayStation Network and PC/Steam soon – look out for more news on these release dates over the coming weeks.

Whilst it’s true that All Zombies Must Die, the shuffling cadavers happen to make excellent pets. Available now on the Xbox LIVE marketplace for 320 Microsoft Points, these domesticated members of the undead will happily amble about beside your Avatar, and – they’re so well trained – they won’t attempt to eat anybody’s brains.

Crystal Dynamic and Geocaching collaborate for new Tomb Raider title

Crystal Dynamics, a Square Enix studio, announces today that it is working with Geocaching.com, a Groundspeak project as part of its campaign for the upcoming release of Tomb Raider.

Geocaching represents a rapidly growing community of over 5 million participants seeking over 1.6 million active geocaches hidden globally in locations such as Times Square, the Berlin Wall, and Great Wall of China. Over the past 11 years, the team at Geocaching.com has been busy creating the world’s largest location-based real-world treasure hunting experience. Millions of avid geocachers download Geocaching.com’s mobile App or use a traditional GPS device to hunt for caches every month, documenting an average of over 180,000 geocaching experiences each day.

Through several initiatives over the coming year, Crystal Dynamics and Geocaching.com are teaming up to create a series of unique location-based adventures that truly embody the spirit of Tomb Raider and Lara Croft’s drive to become an explorer. To develop these adventures, Crystal Dynamics will be using both the traditional Geocaching.com treasure hunting format, as well as Groundspeak’s latest photo-based adventure project, Geocaching Challenges.

Finial Fantasy XIII-2 demo available now

Square Enix Ltd today announces that a playable demo for FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 is available from today via Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360 and PlayStation Network for PlayStation 3.

“The FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 demo provides an excellent opportunity for players to try out the evolved battle system and fully explore an entire area of the game. We are very pleased to give our fans the chance to see the multitude of game improvements for themselves.” said Yoshinori Kitase, the game’s Producer.

Taking place in the Bresha Ruins of the game, the playable demo of FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 sees Noel and Serah pitted against a gigantic and powerful adversary called Atlas, who has mysteriously appeared due to an anomaly in time and space. The demo allows the player to experience many gameplay features and enhancements, including cinematic action sequences in battles and environments with multiple areas and paths to explore. The brand new Monster Recruitment System is also available, which allows the player to enlist defeated enemies into their party that can be developed and grown alongside the game’s main protagonists.

Scarygirl coming to PAL territories

Square Enix have announced that Scarygirl, a new action-platform game based on Nathan Jurevicius’ critically acclaimed graphic novel, will be making its way to XBLA, PSN and PC in the Americas.

Well, today we can confirm that Scarygirl will also be coming to Europe and PAL territories too! Scarygirl will be arriving on Xbox Live Arcade in Europe on 18^th January, and the European PlayStation Store and PC versions will be following shortly after – keep an eye out for updates in the near future!
