New Final Fantasy XIII-2 DLC out today

Square Enix Ltd announced today that the final set of downloadable content for Final Fantasy XIII-2 is available today via Xbox LIVE and tomorrow via PlayStation Network.

These include two new episodes; “Lightning’s Story: Requiem of the Goddess” and “Snow’s Story: Perpetual Battlefield” along with White and Black Mage Costumes and “Mog’s Outfits: A Wondrous Wardrobe,” which includes 16 different costume types for Noel and Serah’s Moogle companion.

About “Lightning’s Story: Requiem of the Goddess”:

This DLC reveals the full arduous battle of Lightning and Caius. Players will be able to take control as Lightning who has a special ability available only for this episode. This episode includes important information relating to the overall storyline of Final Fantasy XIII-2 and players are therefore encouraged to complete the game prior to playing through this new content!

About “Snow’s Story: Perpetual Battlefield”:

Snow is engaged in battles at the Coliseum after being separated from his fiancée, Serah. The episode also features a battle against the “Arbiter of Time,” who has been watching events unfold at the Coliseum. Snow should pose a difficult challenge to players and will allow them to end the Coliseum battles on a high note, and ultimately unlock Snow as a party member.

Hitman: Absolution pre order incentive playable immediately

IO Interactive, a Square Enix studio, has announced Hitman: Sniper Challenge, an exclusive standalone pre-order sniper experience, available to play from the moment customers pre-order their copy of Hitman Absolution. The Hitman Sniper Challenge pre-order promotion will be available starting May 15.

Hitman: Sniper Challenge is not a part of the main game, but has been created as a bespoke standalone experience to reward fans who pre-order Hitman Absolution.

From a balcony overlooking a roof-top party, you are tasked with taking out Richard Strong, Jr., CEO of Stallion Armaments, along with his entire staff of bodyguards. Skilled players will capitalize on score multipliers, discover secret extras, unlock equipment upgrades, and marvel at the many creative ways one can discretely dispose of a body while they work to fulfil their contract in the most efficient way possible.

The high-powered Kazo TRG sniper rifle and a host of other upgrades can be unlocked and carried over into Hitman Absolution. Also an online leader board will allow players to compare their sniping abilities with players around the world, supported by various challenges to determine who has the best sniping skills. Classic Square Enix PS2 titles coming to PSN

Square Enix today announces a number of classic PlayStation 2 adventures are coming to PlayStation 3 via the PlayStation Network in Europe, starting today with the launch of Just Cause, priced €9.99 / £7.99.

The eagerly awaited and much talked about Deus Ex will arrive on 16^th May, priced €9.99 / £7.99. In addition Conflict Desert Storm 2 and Conflict Vietnam will launch on 23^rd May and 30^th May respectively, both priced at €6.99 / £5.49.

Nintendo Europe signs distribution for Heroes Of Ruin

Nintendo of Europe today announces that it has entered into a distribution agreement with Square Enix Europe for the forthcoming game Heroes of Ruin, a brand new adventure created specifically for the Nintendo 3DS system.

Under the terms of the agreement, Nintendo will be responsible for the sales, marketing and distribution of the game throughout EEA, Switzerland, Russia, Turkey and South Africa territories, with Square Enix Europe remaining as publisher. Heroes of Ruin will be released across Europe on 15^th June this year.

Heroes of Ruin pushes social and online interaction to the forefront of gameplay through innovative use of the Nintendo 3DS hardware. Players can trade rare and powerful items through an in-game shop which has an inventory updated through creative use of StreetPass. Connect your 3DS console online to download fresh daily challenges which allow you to earn rewards as you play. Heroes can choose to take the battle to the next level by connecting locally or over the internet to fight alongside their friends in cooperative multiplayer.

In Heroes of Ruin, your adventure begins in the grand city of Nexus where a fragile peace has been shattered when a curse is placed upon the city’s ruler. Unable to find a cure, a call is sent out across the lands, promising rewards beyond measure to anyone who can find a cure. Choose from one of four unlikely heroes to answer the call and find the cure to save the city.

Heroes of Ruin challenges players to carve their own adventure as a Gunslinger, Alchitect, Vindicator or Savage. Create and customise your character and battle the elements and an array of fearsome and dangerous creatures through an environment with routes that change every time you play. Choose to form an alliance with other heroes, through four-player drop-in/drop-out multiplayer either locally or online, or go it alone, venturing forth into the wilderness to ultimately do battle with the mysterious force behind the curse.

Hitman Absolution gets its own newspaper

IO Interactive A/S, a Square Enix studio, is pleased to reveal the first edition of the “HOPE NEWS TIMES.”

The local newspaper for Hope, South Dakota, HOPE NEWS TIMES is a weekly publication reporting the latest news from the town, and revealing a brand new chapter in HITMAN: ABSOLUTION.

Hope and its citizens are heavily influenced by local legend Blake Dexter and his company Dexter Industries. Coincidentally, with the arrival of Agent 47, the otherwise quiet town has become a bedlam of strange accidents and occurrences.

Are these odd events really linked to the Original Assassin? Fans will soon find out, as new stories will run in the HOPE NEWS TIMES each Thursday, and an accompanying screenshot from the game revealed each Friday.

Mass Effect 3 comes to Final Fantasy XIII-2

Square Enix Ltd, the publisher of Square Enix, and BioWare today announced Mass Effect 3 will be lending one of its armour designs to Final Fantasy XIII-2.The N7 Armour worn by Commander Shepard, the main character in Mass Effect 3, will be available as optional outfits for Serah Farron and Noel Kreiss, the main characters of Final Fantasy XIII-2, via downloadable content.

The outfits will be available on March 27 via Xbox LIVE priced at 240 Microsoft Points each and via PlayStation Network priced at €1.99 / £1.79 each.

Mini Ninjas beta now available on Google Web Store

Square Enix is pleased to announce that the Final Fantasy XIII-2 Downloadable episode called ‘Sazh: Heads or Tails?’ goes on sale today via Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360 priced at 400 Microsoft Points, and will be released on the 29^th February 2012 via PlayStation Network for PS3 priced at €3.59/£2.99.

This new downloadable episode allows players to take control of Sazh, the popular character from Final Fantasy XIII, in a story that runs in parallel with the narrative of the main game. Upon completing the storyline of the new episode, the player is rewarded with the option of adding Sazh to their party. The downloadable content also includes two new card games, “Chronobind” and “Serendipity Poker” that are added to the Casino-style area in the location known as Serendipity which appears in the game from Chapter 2 onwards.
