Nordic have obtained the PC publishing rights, and they’re putting them to good use – Remedy Entertainment Ltd. is proud to announce that Alan Wake will finally be available on PCs through Steam on February 16th and soon afterwards through other popular digital channels.

Additionally, a boxed retail version of the game is coming soon. Steam pricing is confirmed as follows: $29.99 (game + DLCs) and $34.99 (LCE).

Alan Wake is a highly anticipated title among PC gamers and it’s finally coming home – sorry for the wait! Boasting 3 BAFTA nominations and named Game of the Year by TIME Magazine, Alan Wake combines inspiration from Alfred Hitchcock, Twin Peaks and Lost – but you probably already know all that if you’ve been paying attention. It’s a modern cult classic, praised by critics and fans alike as one of those game experiences that brings something unique, engaging to the table. We’re not just making that up, either:

”Great entertainment … a tough game to put down once you’ve started” – Oh, well, thanks Mr. IGN!

“Redefines interactive storytelling” – Hey, we appreciate it, Brian Crecente.

”Alan Wake is a brilliant piece of storytelling and one that is going to stand out as an example of single-player gaming done right.” – Aww shucks,we love you too Worthplaying.

Very soon our PC friends can enjoy the gripping, intense storyline and kick-ass action as our troubled writer faces darkness with light as his only ally. (Well, okay, some guns, too.) It’s like something out of a nightmare – a small Washington town, a missing wife, a darkness that stalks the woods, and a strange horror novel that Wake can’t remember writing, but which seems to be coming true before his very eyes.

PC gamers will face the darkness in stunning high-resolution graphics, refined and enhanced PC features and support for stereoscopic 3D and multiscreen. “We’ve done our best to do justice to the PC version and do things the way they should be done for PC. The PC version looks absolutely beautiful. We’re bringing the game to life in a whole new way,” says Markus Mäki, CTO at Remedy.”

With our history of PC titles, such as Max Payne, Max Payne 2 and Death Rally, Remedy has always wanted to bring a PC version of Alan Wake to the gamers’ fingertips. Now we can! We’re glad to be able to self-publish the title on Steam and work with Nordic Games to bring Wake to retail.

We’re very proud of what we’ve done so far with Wake – but for gamers who’ve always wanted the “every setting maxed out” experience, the modern PC hardware takes Alan Wake to new heights… and we bring the high definition goods. Believe it: You’ve never seen Alan Wake looking like this.

Can’t get enough Alan Wake? Don’t forget that the standalone spin off adventure, Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, is coming to Microsoft’s Xbox LIVE Arcade on February 22 for 1200 MS Points.

The Key PC Version Enhancements

Experience Alan Wake’s Pacific Northwest in higher resolutions and higher fidelity than ever before

Refined and fully configurable mouse and keyboard support (or if you prefer to play with the Microsoft gamepad connected to your PC, you can do that too!)

A wide selection of customizable graphics settings and support for 4:3, 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratios

Multithreaded engine that takes advantage of quad core CPUs

Additional options our fans have sought after, such as field of view adjustment as well as “hide HUD”.

Works with AMD Eyefinity 3D 3-screen mode

Works with NVIDIA NVISION2 Stereoscopic 3D

Stainless Games Begins Development of Carmageddon: Reincarnation

No related posts.

Stainless Games today announced that a new title is in early development, called ‘Carmageddon: Reincarnation’.

The Carmageddon brand has been reacquired by the team that developed the original PC titles Carmageddon and Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now.

“Carmageddon has returned to its Indie developer roots, and the time is right to bring the game to a new audience,” said Patrick Buckland, CEO and Stainless co-founder. “Originally an ambitious title that tested the hardware limits of its day, we’re excited that the game will finally get the showcase it deserves on today’s platforms.”

“Carmageddon: Reincarnation will feature the same black humour and comic violence that made the original game such a success.” said Neil Barnden, Executive Director and Stainless co-founder. “All the laughs, the crazy power-ups, and extreme destruction will return. We will make sure the existing fans get what they want and expect from a Carmageddon game, and a new generation discovers the delights of sliding into a Cunning Stunt.”

“I was in the war!” Patrick added.

Now in the early stages of pre-production development, ‘Carmageddon: Reincarnation’ is slated for release in 2012. Stainless Games is actively seeking a partner with whom to move the project on to full production.

‘Carmageddon: Reincarnation’ is being developed for digital download, for which Stainless Games have built an enviable worldwide reputation, with numerous cross-platform releases and multiple No.1 titles on XBLA.

The controversial Digital Economy Bill has sneaked through and been passed in the House Of Commons yesterday much to the disgust of some MP’s and campaigners.

The Bill gives the Government the power to close file sharing websites and also restrict or terminate users household connections if caught filesharing illegally and the subsequent warnings are not adhered to.

There are a few inclusions into the Bill which were to be hotly debated but with lack of MP’s present the Bill was mainly voted on party whips and rushed through for completion in the House Of Lords.

One good thing that has come from it though is that the PEGI rating system will now be legal as opposed to the BBFC certification we have at present. All this rushing through will present more problems when it comes to retail regarding the legality of games already with BBFC and ELSPA certification and age guides on. It does, however, go to some length to product an industry that has had its fair share of controversy and can now go on to promote and educate classification to the country.

Morning, afternoon or whatever time of the day it is. Time to catch up on what’s been happening over the weekend. Some of it has actually been of note, which is a shock, so let’s press on.
One Man and His Golden Dog

Dead to Rights: Retribution has been put into gold status, so it’s ready to be pressed and shipped. The previous two outings fared reasonably well, but never really climbed to the top of the genre, but this next gen version has been turning heads with the mix of action and stealth spread between the two main characters, Jack Slate and Shadow.

The game itself hits the shelves on the 23rd April, so we’ll find out soon whether or not it’s worth “fetching” from the store…. *groan*

Harvest Moon on the PSP

Pretty much self explanatory, really. Harvest Moon: Hero of Leaf Valley has been penned in for a release next month and is a welcome return to the much loved series, which hasn’t been on the PSP since Innocent Life back in 2007.

Your task is to save Leaf Valley from the evil Funland Corporation by growing crops, mining ore and all those other things that you do in harvest Moon games. Being Mature Gaming I don’t know whether or not this will be for everyone on here, but who knows? Expect this in late April.

REJOICE: It’s-a-Mario Kart

Finally, after much waiting and procrastinating by the people at Nintendo, one of (if not THE) best games to ever grace a console gets its release on the Virtual Console at the end of this week.

The SNES version of Super Mario Kart is one of my favourite games personally; and I’m ecstatic that it will be available for the petty sum of 800 Wii Points. All of the tracks from the original, as well as all the battle modes will be present, but I also fear that they haven’t had the master stroke of making this an 8 player ONLINE balloon fest. Hopefully if this isn’t the case on launch that they’ll tweak it to work, but we all know how that works, don’t we.

2nd of April folks…. 2nd of April (and yes, I’m very happy).

That’s enough for now, kids. Until next time…

TNN – Turrican News Network 2010

In an announcement that dropped into my inbox late on Monday afternoon Zenimax announced that publisher Bethesda has taken the IP Rage from EA. ID software, sold to media group ZeniMax earlier in the year has a history of great shooters including Doom, Quake etc had IP after the sale that was still tied to other publishers for marketing and release. I would presume that this deal has come due to EA scaling down their operations in terms of staff and games releases in order to bring down costs.

Bethesda, one of ZeniMax’s subsiduary companies will now take over publishing duties for Rage. The statement quotes “RAGE will be published by Bethesda Softworks, another ZeniMax subsidiary. As a result, Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) will not be involved in the sales and marketing of RAGE. The ongoing development of RAGE is unaffected by this development.
