505 Games was today delighted to announce that it is entering into a worldwide agreement with global sports powerhouse, adidas, to publish the long-awaited adidas miCoach console game.

The title will be available in the summer of 2012 for the Xbox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3.

miCoach is a personal training system from adidas for athletes of all ages, gender and level. Users can develop bespoke training plans according to their chosen sporting activity, track their workout progress, get coaching feedback, and see improvements.

adidas miCoach, the video game, brings a more technical, sports-training approach than other ‘fitness’ games on the home console systems. Boasting full motion-controlled support and full optical body tracking with the Kinect for Xbox 360 sensor and PlayStation Move, players can train alongside their sports heroes with over 400 exercises dedicated to optimising fitness levels for particular sports activities.

Unparalleled connectivity further enables the millions of people worldwide who interact with the miCoach system through mobile apps and micoach.com to extend their training programme into their living rooms and add their achievements in the game to their exercise regime.

miCoach features 18 of adidas’ globally recognised athletes across 6 different sports including Kaka, Dwight Howard, Manuel Neuer, Jessica Ennis, Jose Mourinho, Ana Ivanovic, Will Genia and Eric Berry all of whom provide Masterclasses for their sport.

Simon Drabble, Director of miCoach business unit for adidas said “we are very excited to be bringing the miCoach console game to market. Training alongside your own heroes is a fun and engaging way to get better for your sport or simply help you reach your fitness goals”

“Working with adidas on bringing this game to market provides a very exciting and immediate opportunity,” said Tim Woodley, Head of Global Brand at 505 Games. “Bringing something truly new to the sports training and fitness segment on consoles, integrating it into the wider miCoach pantheon and capitalising on a packed summer of sport in 2012 is just the start of a great relationship.”

The miCoach game has been in development for one and half years with UK developer Chromativity (formerly Lightning Fish Games) under exclusive license from adidas.

adidas miCoach will be released worldwide in summer 2012.

It’s time to engage in an epic battle at sea and war on the shore as Hasbro and Activision, a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard Inc. announced that Battleship is available in the UK from last Friday.

The game takes a hybrid approach combining military strategy and fast-paced first-person shooter gaming as players take control of a powerful naval fleet and experience the cinematic action of war at sea. Battleship is now available for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and the Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS hand-held systems.

“Working with the legendary Battleship property, and the new epic action-adventure from Universal Pictures, we felt it was important to capture some of the cinematic drama while allowing players to experience the action from a unique perspective,” said David Oxford, Activision Publishing. “We want both movie-goers and gamers of all ages to dive into an all new, fun Battleship experience.”

Combining military strategy and fast-paced first-person shooter gameplay, players take control of a powerful naval fleet in this re-envisioned version of Battleship. Trapped in a “dome” of alien-terror on the Hawaiian Islands, where support communications have been put to a halt, players commandeer real-world naval vessels, including Destroyers, Carriers, and even the famous U.S.S. Missouri as action-packed sea battles against alien invaders ensue across land, sea, and air.

“With numerous gaming platforms available today, it is important to showcase Battleship on many different levels,” said Mark Blecher, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Digital Media and Marketing at Hasbro. “The new Battleship is the perfect medley that both strategic and action-junkie gamers will fall in love with.”

In Battleship for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 systems, first person run-and-gun gameplay meets tactical battle command. Playing as Cole Mathis, a first class Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician, players will deploy air strikes and radar sweeps to monitor and dominate the marine battlefield. With killer-combat instincts, players must lock-and-load an arsenal of weapons like machine guns and missile launchers to send the invaders packing.

In the Nintendo Wii, 3DS, and DS versions, players are in control of a wide variety of naval units, including Cruisers, Submarines, and Patrol Boats in exciting turn-based combat with a team of specialised commanders. With different play modes to choose from, including Story and quick-battle Skirmish, players will unlock new maps, units, and leaders to turn the tide of battle.

Battleship is available in the UK for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 systems for a suggested retail price of £39.99 and is rated 12 by the BBFC. The game is also available for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo 3DS for £29.99 and the Nintendo DS for £24.99. All Nintendo versions are rated PEGI 7+.

Nordic have obtained the PC publishing rights, and they’re putting them to good use – Remedy Entertainment Ltd. is proud to announce that Alan Wake will finally be available on PCs through Steam on February 16th and soon afterwards through other popular digital channels.

Additionally, a boxed retail version of the game is coming soon. Steam pricing is confirmed as follows: $29.99 (game + DLCs) and $34.99 (LCE).

Alan Wake is a highly anticipated title among PC gamers and it’s finally coming home – sorry for the wait! Boasting 3 BAFTA nominations and named Game of the Year by TIME Magazine, Alan Wake combines inspiration from Alfred Hitchcock, Twin Peaks and Lost – but you probably already know all that if you’ve been paying attention. It’s a modern cult classic, praised by critics and fans alike as one of those game experiences that brings something unique, engaging to the table. We’re not just making that up, either:

”Great entertainment … a tough game to put down once you’ve started” – Oh, well, thanks Mr. IGN!

“Redefines interactive storytelling” – Hey, we appreciate it, Brian Crecente.

”Alan Wake is a brilliant piece of storytelling and one that is going to stand out as an example of single-player gaming done right.” – Aww shucks,we love you too Worthplaying.

Very soon our PC friends can enjoy the gripping, intense storyline and kick-ass action as our troubled writer faces darkness with light as his only ally. (Well, okay, some guns, too.) It’s like something out of a nightmare – a small Washington town, a missing wife, a darkness that stalks the woods, and a strange horror novel that Wake can’t remember writing, but which seems to be coming true before his very eyes.

PC gamers will face the darkness in stunning high-resolution graphics, refined and enhanced PC features and support for stereoscopic 3D and multiscreen. “We’ve done our best to do justice to the PC version and do things the way they should be done for PC. The PC version looks absolutely beautiful. We’re bringing the game to life in a whole new way,” says Markus Mäki, CTO at Remedy.”

With our history of PC titles, such as Max Payne, Max Payne 2 and Death Rally, Remedy has always wanted to bring a PC version of Alan Wake to the gamers’ fingertips. Now we can! We’re glad to be able to self-publish the title on Steam and work with Nordic Games to bring Wake to retail.

We’re very proud of what we’ve done so far with Wake – but for gamers who’ve always wanted the “every setting maxed out” experience, the modern PC hardware takes Alan Wake to new heights… and we bring the high definition goods. Believe it: You’ve never seen Alan Wake looking like this.

Can’t get enough Alan Wake? Don’t forget that the standalone spin off adventure, Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, is coming to Microsoft’s Xbox LIVE Arcade on February 22 for 1200 MS Points.

The Key PC Version Enhancements

Experience Alan Wake’s Pacific Northwest in higher resolutions and higher fidelity than ever before

Refined and fully configurable mouse and keyboard support (or if you prefer to play with the Microsoft gamepad connected to your PC, you can do that too!)

A wide selection of customizable graphics settings and support for 4:3, 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratios

Multithreaded engine that takes advantage of quad core CPUs

Additional options our fans have sought after, such as field of view adjustment as well as “hide HUD”.

Works with AMD Eyefinity 3D 3-screen mode

Works with NVIDIA NVISION2 Stereoscopic 3D

Activision Publishing have released the first details of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, the newest entry of non-stop heroic action to star the iconic wall-crawler.

The video game is scheduled for release in September 2010 and will allow players to travel through four different worlds as distinctly different versions of Spider-Man from four universes across Marvel lore, two of which are announced today: The Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man Noir.

As Spider-Man, players will experience a wide variety of gameplay and dramatic environments. The Amazing Spider-Man experience delivers innovative web combat and visuals in a world that pays tribute to the classic era of the legendary Super Hero. In contrast, Spider-Man Noir features a cunning and covert depiction of Spider-Man, who utilizes shadows to perform stealth takedowns in a 1930′s-influenced, black-and-white cinematic environment.

“Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions delivers an original storyline that bridges four unique worlds,” said Rob Kostich, Head of Marketing, Activision Publishing, Inc. “Each action-packed universe will have its own detailed art design and thrilling missions, challenging gamers to use new skill sets to defeat enemies as they unlock powerful new moves and progress through the game.”

Penned by acclaimed Marvel comic book writer Dan Slott, the story takes players on a mission to capture the magical energy of the Tablet of Order and Chaos, which has been shattered and scattered across parallel universes. Gamers are challenged to battle fan-favorite villains such as the lethal Kraven and a custom, never-before-seen Noir version of Hammerhead, in a quest to restore the fabric of reality.

In an announcement that dropped into my inbox late on Monday afternoon Zenimax announced that publisher Bethesda has taken the IP Rage from EA. ID software, sold to media group ZeniMax earlier in the year has a history of great shooters including Doom, Quake etc had IP after the sale that was still tied to other publishers for marketing and release. I would presume that this deal has come due to EA scaling down their operations in terms of staff and games releases in order to bring down costs.

Bethesda, one of ZeniMax’s subsiduary companies will now take over publishing duties for Rage. The statement quotes “RAGE will be published by Bethesda Softworks, another ZeniMax subsidiary. As a result, Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) will not be involved in the sales and marketing of RAGE. The ongoing development of RAGE is unaffected by this development.
