Ubisoft launches Ghost Recon: Commander

Today, Ubisoft announced that Tom Clancy’s Ghost ReconCommander, an isometric tactical combat game, is now available to play on Facebook.

Brenda Garno Brathwaite, Loot Drop’s cofounder and lead game designer, has created features that both hard-core and social game players can enjoy. Hard-core gamers will appreciate the beautiful graphics, tactical gameplay and faithful translation of the Ghost Recon franchise to the Facebook platform. Facebook and other casual game players will like the approachable dynamic combat system and the ability to start and stop the game at their convenience without penalty. Ghost Recon Commander also features 10 replayable missions, three difficulty levels and dozens of weapons for players to choose from to help them win their missions. These features help make Ghost Recon Commander fun for all types of gamers.

“We are taking the popular Ghost Recon franchise and bringing it to platforms that allow players of all skill levels to enjoy at their leisure, on the platform of their choosing,” said Chris Early, vice president of digital publishing at Ubisoft. “This is the basis of our companion gaming strategy that Ghost Recon Commander exemplifies so well.”

In Ghost Recon Commander, players will be able to develop their own “Ghost,” an elite Special Forces operator utilizing stealth, firepower and exciting near-future technology to take command of the battlefield against impossible odds.

Other features in Ghost Recon Commander include:

· Gamer-on-the-Go: Players have the ability to pick up where they left off in Ghost Recon Commander; it doesn’t matter if they’ve been away from the game for a day or for an hour, time is not a constraint.
· Customization: Ghosts can be upgraded and customized with state-of-the-art weaponry, armor and near-future gadgets.
· Asynchronous Co-op: Players will be able to have friends join them on missions or offer themselves up as a mercenary for hire.

Ghost Recon Commander can be played as a stand-alone game or played to tie into the overall Ghost Recon universe. Following Ubisoft’s companion gaming strategy, players are encouraged to play the game alongside Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, available on consoles May 25th, and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Online, available later this year. By playing Ghost Recon Commander, players will be able to unlock exclusive weapons, weapon skins and bonuses to use while playing Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Ghost Recon Online. Ghost Recon Commander players can also gain benefits, such as exclusive characters, by playing Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.

The Sims gets really social and comes to Facebook

Eidos-Montreal and Square Enix are offering Facebook users the opportunity to unlock a slew of exclusive Deus Ex: Human Revolution assets by encouraging other fans and friends to “Like” the official Deus Ex Facebook page.

As more users “Like” the page, over 90 exclusive updates — including new videos, behind-the-scenes footage, and other artwork — will be revealed.

Fans can now pre-order Deus Ex: Human Revolution to receive exclusive downloadable bonus content from participating retailers by visiting http://www.DeusEx.com/preorder.

“Deus Ex has one of the most passionate, vocal and dedicated communities in all of video games, so offering a program that rewards that loyalty — even before the game is released — is a great way for us to give something back,” said Kyle Stallock, Community Manager, Eidos-Montreal. “The Facebook community now has significant control over the release schedule for some of our favorite assets. Next Assassin’s Creed to be called Revelations?

In the early hours of this morning Ubisoft made a boo boo and leaked information regarding the next Assassins Creed onto their official facebook page.
They have posted an image of a teaser………… then the teaser flash file itself and within the hour after posting they then took them back down from the page.

But lucky for you MGers I managed to save the Flash link with a little proof below in the gallery and the flash banner is still up on Ubisofts server at the time of writing.

Upon close inspection of the flash file it reveals two pieces of Arabic script which when translated down the off licence reval two names “Revelations” and the one thing all AC fans want to see……….. Altair.

The revelation name is quite interesting as in 2012 Konami will release the Silent Hill: Revelation movie, and Capcom’s upcoming 3DS game is Resident Evil: Revelations. Are we going back in time as a prequel or will he rise again?

Dragon Age goes social

BioWare today announced Dragon Age Legends, a new Play4Free Facebook game that expands on the critically acclaimed RPG franchise Dragon Age.

The new game is inspired by the award-winning BioWare franchise but custom-designed for the casual and social play style for Facebook users of all ages.
