Darksiders II follows the exploits of DEATH, one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, in a weaving tale that runs parallel to the events in the original Darksiders game. This epic journey propels DEATH through various light and dark realms as he tries to redeem his brother WAR, the horseman who was blamed for prematurely starting the Apocalypse in Darksiders.

Tales of Graces F offers brilliant HD graphics, an amazing dynamic real-time battle system, a deep and captivating story set within the rich world of Ephinea, and other unmissable features.

In the world of Ephinea, a civilization flourishes through the use of “Eleth,” a substance found in a material called “Crius.” Three kingdoms – Windor, Strata and Fendel – struggle for dominance of the world, while in the remote Windor town of Lhant, the eldest son of Baron Aston, 18 year old Asbel, strives to become a fully-fledged knight. However, Asbel is forced to give up his dream when his father passes away and he is obliged to succeed him as the Baron of Lhant.

Tales of Graces F is the latest episode in the renowned Tales series on the current generation of consoles, and the first European appearance of the franchise on PS3. The story is set against the backdrop of three countries beset by a turbulent conflict and is founded on the ideals of “defending your convictions” and “protecting the people important to you.”

For the first time in the Tales series, the combat system lets the player freely change attack style depending on the battle situation. The characters’ distinctive weapons can be swapped for different styles, and the new combat system is easier to control while simultaneously making battles more involving. The title is developed by Namco Tales Studio LTD. in Japan with the aim of bringing to life the rich depth of the evocative characters created by Mutsumi Inomata.

There is another Tales of surprise for the fans this year with Tales of the Abyss for Nintendo 3DS, based on the critically-acclaimed PlayStation 2 role playing game of the same name, finally coming to PAL territories in 2011!

Tales of the Abyss delivers full 3D support and use of the dual screens to bring players closer to the action. Tales of the Abyss tells the story of Luke fon Fabre, sole heir to a family of aristocrats, as he is suddenly thrust into the outside world on an epic adventure. Naïve and spoiled by years of isolation, Luke struggles to learn of friendship, sacrifice, duty and of choice. With the fates of many in his hands, Luke’s actions could ultimately save the world or bring about its very destruction.

SCE will also provide location-based services on NGP as part of the basic features utilizing PlayStation Network.  The new application called “Near,” developed specifically for this service and the network, will be pre-installed in the system to let users find out what their friends in the vicinity are playing now or what they were playing recently.  Users can meet their friends and new players virtually, regardless of what games they are playing, simply by sharing their game information across different dimensions of time and distance.

• l New Game Medium

NGP adopts a new game medium, a small flash memory based card, dedicated for NGP software titles.  Taking advantage of the flash memory feature, this innovative card can store the full software titles plus add-on game content or the game save data directly on to the card. By adopting flash memory based card, SCE will be able to provide game cards with higher capacity in the future, allowing developers to store more game data to deliver rich and immersive games.

NGP will also come equipped with two cameras on its front and rear, as well as three motion sensors, gyroscope, accelerometer and electronic compass, all of which are designed to enable users to enjoy the world of entertainment that is linked with real life experiences.

Developed by Backbone Entertainment, this first ever home version of the popular 1992 cabinet arcade classic allows players to join their favorite X-Men characters in what is widely considered their first great video game appearance.

In X-Men Arcade, Cyclops, Colossus, Dazzler, Nightcrawler, Storm and Wolverine unite to use their special powers to save mankind from the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and other terrible threats. Players will have to fight off hundreds of Sentinels, along with Super Villains such as Pyro, the Blob, Wendigo, Nimrod, the White Queen, Juggernaut and Mystique, as they battle their way to Island M to take down the Master of Magnetism, Magneto, and save Kitty Pryde and Professor Xavier.

X-Men Arcade brings the fun and excitement of the hit arcade game to next-generation consoles as players can engage in multiplayer action with 1-4 players supported locally and 1-6 players supported online. Online Drop-in multiplayer is activated, allowing anyone to jump in on the battle at any time. High-definition heads-up displays, menus and local/online leaderboards have also been integrated to track statistics and scores.

Players will be able to select the Custom Match Mode that will allow them to choose the kind of session they would like to join by setting the amount of players, difficulty and what level to start in to create a truly unique online experience. Players will also have the ability to select the Create Match Mode where they can establish themselves as the host and have the ability to control incoming players, number of players, difficulty setting, and starting level to have complete veto power over the match. For players looking for the ultimate X-Men challenge, multiple difficulty modes will also be available.

Released exclusively for Nintendo Wii, Western Heroes will be bundled with a unique Wii Remote and Nunchuck compatible rifle peripheral – based on the famous Winchester rifle – when it is published this November.

In a setting inspired by the great Spaghetti Westerns of the 20th century, Western Heroes tells the story of four seasoned compadres on a mission to foil the devious plans of the sinister Molina, who threatens to turn the rugged prairies into an industrial wasteland. Up to four players at a time will blast their way through classic ‘Wild West’ scenarios including a steam train, a cattle ranch, an old mine and many more. Completing story mode chapters will unlock additional challenges and survival mode levels for extended play to test players’ accuracy and reactions.

The accompanying rifle peripheral is unique to the game, having never been available in the UK before. Its innovative design houses the Wii Remote in the barrel and the Nunchuck in the stock to provide an added level of immersion to budding cowboys and cowgirls. The gun’s lever action beneath the trigger will reload in-game, to replicate the repeater action of ‘the rifle that won the West’.

From acclaimed flight sim developer Gaijin Entertainment comes its first helicopter combat game, where players control a variety of lethal Apache attack helicopters outfitted with cutting-edge military weaponry. The goal in Apache: Air Assault is to prevent terrorist attacks by raining down destruction from above in the world’s most volatile warzones.

Apache: Air Assault features more than 16 multi-stage missions involving air and ground strike operations off the coast of Africa, the mountains of the Middle East and the jungles of Central America, each meticulously created using high resolution map data from real-world satellite photography. Apache helicopters are some of the most sophisticated combat aircraft on the planet – the player gets to fly multiple variations of them, each with their own extreme firepower and highly-detailed damage modelling.

“No games on next-gen consoles have been dedicated to helicopter combat simulation, but that is about to change this autumn”, said David Oxford, Activision Publishing. “Apache: Air Assault offers fun for diehard military enthusiasts and flight sim fans as well as gamers who just want to blow stuff up.”

The game can be played based on the player’s tastes – Arcade Mode allows players to easily pick up the controls and jump right into the combat. The Realistic mode showcases the real depth of the title, where the dedication to realism and precision shines through. The local Co-op Campaign Mode lets two players team up in the same Apache with one as the pilot and the other as the co-pilot in a joint effort for a truly authentic combat flight experience.  For those that want to go even further, Apache: Air Assault includes competitive online multiplayer matches such as Team Deathmatch, Ground Attack, Capture the LZ, and Ground Strike.

Scheduled for release this Autumn, Nickelodeon Fit provides a new way for kids to stay physically active as they exercise and engage with their favorite characters Dora, Diego, Kai-lan and The Backyardigans, all together in a video game for the first time.

Developed in collaboration with physical education and exercise science expert Dr. Jackie Goodway, Nickelodeon Fit features 30 exercise games targeting cardiovascular activity, core muscles, upper and lower body strength, balance, motor skill development and foot and hand-eye coordination. Using either the Wii Remote or the Wii Balance Board accessory, kids embark in an imaginative array of physically challenging activities. They can jump rope with the Backyardigans, go river rafting with Diego, leap over hurdles with Kai-lan, pogo stick with Dora and even participate in a stamina-building relay race featuring all of the game’s characters.

“We’re excited to introduce a product that helps address the evolving recommendations for children to engage in physical activity, in a game where breaking a sweat with your Nickelodeon friends is not only fun but can be heart healthy,” said Steve Lux, vice president of business development for 2K Play.

Nickelodeon Fit incorporates a tracking feature so parents can monitor the progress of their children in metrics, including total exercise time and different intensities of physical activity on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. In addition, they can customize workout routines to focus on designated areas of improvement. For example, cross-country biking with Dora can be selected to address endurance and dirt boarding with Diego can be selected to help improve balance and dexterity.
