Spec Ops: The Line launch heralds free movie day

2K Games, Digital Spy, and The Prince Charles Cinema today announced free war movies for all to celebrate the launch of Spec Ops: The Line.

An exclusive public vote will enable cinema lovers to choose precisely which war movies are screened. Doors for the screenings then open at 1pm, Wednesday 30^th May with seats given away free on a first-come-first-served based. All movies will be rated BBFC 18.

Head over to Digital Spy’s movie section now, to cast your vote on the war movie you consider to be the world’s best.

Spec Ops: The Line is currently in development at YAGER for the Xbox 360, the PS3 and Windows PC. Spec Ops: The Line is a provocative and gripping third-person modern military shooter that challenges players’ morality by putting them in the middle of unspeakable situations where unimaginable choices affecting human life must be made.

Spec Ops: The Line will be available in the UK on June 29^th, 2012. Spec Ops: The Line is rated BBFC 18.

Bioshock Infinite release slips into 2013

2K Games announced today that BioShock Infinite from Irrational Games is now planned to launch worldwide on February 26, 2013.Ken Levine, Creative Director of Irrational Games, stated, “When we announced the release date of BioShock Infinite in March, we felt pretty good about the timing. Since then, we’ve uncovered opportunities to makeInfinite into something even more extraordinary. Therefore, to give our talented team the time they need to deliver the best Infinite possible, we’ve decided to move the game’s release to February.”

Spec Ops: The Line demo now live

2K Games today announced that a free playable demo of the highly anticipated third-person military shooter, Spec Ops: The Line, is now available for gamers who are Gold members on the Xbox LIVE and on the PlayStation Network for PlayStation 3. The demo will become available for all Xbox LIVE members on May 15, 2012.
Players that download the demo will be introduced to the brutal action and combat of Spec Ops: The Line. The single-player narrative unfolds within Dubai after a series of cataclysmic sandstorms cut the city off from the rest of the world. Playing as Captain Martin Walker, gamers add to the city’s destruction by engaging in action-packed firefights as they search for Colonel John Konrad and his missing battalion, The Damned 33^rd. In search of answers and survivors, players who experience the demo will tear through portions of two early chapters of Spec Ops: The Line.

The squad-based action in Spec Ops: The Line is highlighted by an intelligent squad command system that allows players to tactfully take out insurgents as they advance into the heart of Dubai. Gamers will blast their way through sandstorms with a variety of weapons and explosives, even using sand as a weapon to strategically bury enemies in their path. Combining intense action with a riveting narrative and the unique setting of a sandstorm ravaged Dubai, Spec Ops: The Line is unlike any other military shooter.

In addition to the single-player campaign, Spec Ops: The Line features an expansive, class-based multiplayer experience that is fun for both casual and hard core gamers. The multiplayer mode features squad-based games in visually stunning and unique environments where players are encouraged to use their sand-filled surroundings to thwart their enemies; however, the environment can quickly turn from advantageous to treacherous with the onset of sandstorms – which impact visibility, team communication and weapon handling.

Developed by YAGER, Spec Ops: The Line will be available in North America for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on June 26, 2012, and internationally on June 29, 2012.

2K International have released a new series of videos called heavy hitter that detail some of the weapons and characters in the game.

Irrational Games’ creative director Ken Levine and art director Nate Wells introduce the Motorised Patriot in the first part of their Heavy Hitters series with a look at the handyman as part of the second. Check em out!

Bioshock Infinite dated – Boom!

2K Games announced today that BioShock Infinite will be available in North America on October 16, 2012 on the Xbox 360, PS3 and Windows PC. The title will be available internationally on October 19, 2012.Developed by Irrational Games, BioShock Infinite won more than 75 editorial awards at E3 in 2011, including the Game Critics Awards’ Best of Show. The title has been named one of the most anticipated games of 2012 by more than 50 media outlets, including WIRED, USA Today, TIME, GameSpot, and GameTrailers. The BioShock franchise is one of the interactive entertainment industry’s most successful and critically acclaimed series, which has sold-in over 9 million units worldwide.

“After BioShock, we had a vision for a follow up that dwarfed the original in scope and ambition,” said Ken Levine, Creative Director of Irrational Games. “BioShock Infinite has been our sole focus for the last four years, and we can’t wait for fans to get their hands on it.”

2K chooses SteamWorks to deliver PC version of Borderlands 2

2K Games, Gearbox Software and Valve today announced an agreement to power all PC versions of the highly anticipated Borderlands 2 with Steamworks when the game launches on September 18, 2012 in North America and September 21, 2012 internationally.

2K Games and Gearbox Software announced today that Borderlands 2, the sequel to the multi-million unit selling breakout hit, Borderlands, will be available on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in North America on September 18, 2012 and internationally on September 21, 2012.

Currently in development by Gearbox Software, Borderlands 2 is the sequel to the critically acclaimed four-player cooperative shooter-looter that combined intense first-person mayhem with role-playing gameplay. 2K Games announced today that Sid Meier’s Civilization V: Gods & Kings, the expansion pack for the award-winning Civilization V, is being developed for Windows-based PC.

Developed by Firaxis Games, Sid Meier’s Civilization V: Gods & Kings introduces new gameplay content, enhancing the Civilization V experience and providing even more ways for players to achieve world domination. The Gods & Kings expansion pack spans the breadth of human civilization, taking players from founding the first Pantheon of the Gods and spreading religion across the world, to deploying spies in enemy cities to steal information and technology.

Borderlands 2 concept interview emerges

The 4+ minute interview with concept designer Scott Kester explains the thinking behind some of the new guns, characters, locations and creatures in Borderlands 2.

There is a wait, however, for the release of Borderlands 2 with the release expected in 2013.

NBA 2K12 demo goes live

2K Sports today announced that a free demo of NBA 2K12 is now available on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation Network for PlayStation 3.

The demo allows players to relive this past season’s exciting NBA Finals and play one quarter as the Miami Heat or Dallas Mavericks. The demo showcases many of this year’s improvements, including an all-new post play system for full 360-degree player movement to dominate the paint, total shot stick control for more intuitive offensive moves, and updated visuals complete with dynamic broadcast-style pre-game highlight reels.

This year’s edition of NBA 2K, the top-selling and top-rated NBA video game simulation franchise, will allow players to take control of some of the most iconic names and teams in NBA history, such as Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Julius Irving, and put them head-to-head against other classic and modern-day teams to create NBA dream matchups and end the debate over the “NBA’s Greatest” once and for all.
