Preview: Shank

In amongst the big guns at the recent EA Games Showcase there was a 2D side-scroller that looks like it might be a gem of an arcade game. Introducing ‘Shank’.

With a story being penned by Marianne Krawczyk, of BAFTA award-winning God of War fame, a striking visual look, an easy to grasp control system, Shank looks to be hitting somewhat of a sweet spot similar to Klei’s (The development teams) previous hits Eets and N+.

Despite only a short play, we we’re able to start stringing together different combinations of moves using the main characters arsenal of chainsaw, handguns, blade and grenades. It all left us thinking of Double Dragon, Golden Axe and more recently Viewtiful Joe, which can only be a good thing.

Shank will be available this summer on Xbox LIVE Arcade, Playstation Network and PC. For more information check in on the Shank Blog, until then, here’s the trailer…
