El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron, UTV Ignition’s blindingly gorgeous new title was featured at Tokyo Games Show this year.

Just as the gaming press were swept away by its diverse gameplay and truly individual art style, the public also saw the full potential of the title, awarding it the “Future Game of the Show 2010” award; a near unheard of commendation for a brand new franchise.

Developed by a hugely-talented, Tokyo-based team, members of which have worked on titles such as Devil May Cry, Okami and Viewtiful Joe, El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron draws players into a rich storyline inspired by events in the Old Testament’s apocryphal ‘Book of Enoch. Combining silky smooth combat and both 2D and 3D gaming, El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron is as playable as it is jaw-dropping to look at.  The team’s legendary development pedigree has resulted in a game that is like no other, and must be seen in motion to be fully appreciated.

Accepting the award on behalf of the UTVIgnition Japan studio, Director Sawaki Takeyasu was clearly in high spirits: “This was very unexpected, but it is a great honour and I am delighted to accept such an award. We started this project 4 years ago with a strong will, in hopes to create a flagship title for all the gamers in the world. I was extremely fortunate to have such a great team to work with.”
