I’ve been playing with the new SmartGlass app on Android today.

It certainly makes the browser work a whole lot better.

    Anyone else used it yet?

Yup, use it for Netflix, had it on Forza Horizon and I think it works really well.

Just to add to the above would it be better for me just to get Windows 8 for my laptop??

@toxincram Win8 is ok at the moment, i’ve had it since last week through dreamspark premium as I’m doing an Computer Science course. Some games are known not to work with it at the moment so if you’re a big PC gamer then i’d avoid. Otherwise I think Win 8 is a hell of a lot faster than 7.

If you are looking for a tablet however, I would recommend the Asus Nexus 7. It’s roughly £200 for the 16gb model but I’ve heard rumours they’re upgrading that to the 32 gb model so i’d also wait and hold off as they’re making an announcement november 2nd i believe

The nexus 7 is great, but its not supported by this app yet, and probably not at all if Microsoft stick to form.

A lot of large corporations seem to be making android apps available on limited devices and totally block everything else so no one gets an under par experience. It’s total nonsense really I can get this app on my nexus S but not the 7.

Obviously the new surface tablets will be the best bet for this app, but not much else in my view. And as yet iPads haven’t got an app. Either they’re trying to give them the shoulder as competition or it’ll be here pretty soon.

As for the app itself I’m hoping the connection gets quicker, it obviously drops if you start watching something which renders it useless as a remote replacement.

@ch8rt Yeah the Nexus 7 is brilliant but I’m not surprised that they made it “not compatable” according to Google Play. Of course there are other ways of installing it if you know what I mean ;) I have it on my Nexus 7 and it runs just as well as my S3. But Microsoft would obviously lock that down initially to use as a selling point for their surface tablets.

I noticed the app dropping alot as well, never used to do that when I had my iPhone as that version of the app was very well done.
